Biography

Cheng Kaixiang works in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, as an Associate Chief Physician and Associate Professor. He has been engaged in plastic and reconstructive surgery for many years. His main clinical interests are microsurgery, hand surgery, plastic repair and reconstruction of genitourinary malformations, and aesthetic surgery. His published papers include "Penile Reconstruction by Different Methods in 136 Cases" (American Journal of Plastic Surgery, 1995), "Cheng's Penile Reconstruction" (American Journal of Plastic Surgery, 1996), and "Scalp Reconstruction for Total Scalp Avulsion" (American Journal of Plastic Surgery, 1997). He has contributed to the compilation of books including Andrology, Military Plastic Surgery, and Zhang Disheng's Plastic Surgery. Research projects he has undertaken include “Omental Flap for Severe Hand Trauma” and “Comprehensive Treatment of Posterior Urethral Stricture”. “Cheng's Penile Reconstruction” won the First Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in 1999, “Scalp Replantation for Total Scalp Avulsion” won the Third Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in 1997, and “Penile Reconstruction with Different Methods” won the Medical Achievement Award in 1998.

He specializes in plastic surgery of the genitourinary organs, such as penile reconstruction, penile lengthening and augmentation, vaginal tightening, vulvoplasty, congenital hypospadias, congenital rectovaginal fistula, postoperative rectovesical fistula or rectovaginal fistula, and penile coronal sulcus defects. He also specializes in various facial deformities, such as oculoplastic surgery, rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, lip plastic surgery, ear plastic surgery, facial contouring, and mandibular plastic surgery.
